A march for science and research!
Alternative facts and fake news. These are phenomenons that March for Science wants to counteract. March for Science will be organized in 400 cities around the World on the 22nd of April, highligting the importance of science and the use of research-based knowledge in society. The Institute for Futures Studies is one of more than 60 organizations that support the initiative in Sweden, and our colleague researcher Karim Jebari will be one of the speakers in Stockholm.
The initiative originates from the USA, and involves both scientists and the public. One of the key messages is that science knows no borders and that diversity and openness are what characterise science.
In Sweden, marches are planned in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Umeå and Uppsala. In Stockholm the starting point will be Mariatorget where the march will begin at. 12:00. It will then continue via Sankt Paulsgatan - Götgatan - Hökens gata - Östgötagatan - Folkungagatan - Götgatan to Medborgarplatsen. There will be speeches by among others philosopher Karim Jebari, and artists will perform at. 13:30 to 15:00.
