The article studies the relation between lifestyle and global self-rated health in the adult Swedish population using the Swedish Level of Living Survey 1991-2010. Subjects with good health in 1991 are followed into 2000 and 2010, assessing the relations between their lifestyle (smoking, drinking, exercise, vegetable consumption, social relations) in 1991 and the risk of deteriorating health into 2000 and 2010. Those who exercise at least weekly and those who consume vegetables at least daily in 1991 have a lower risk of deteriorating health while those who smoke and those who lack social support have a higher risk.
