Analyzing political trust among immigrants in Sweden
Arbetsrapport 2011 nr. 10
Abstract
A healthy democracy demands critical citizens. But to what extent is trust in political and judicial institutions affected by experiences and expectations? This study suggests that political and institutional trust in Sweden is higher among migrants from countries plagued by high levels of corruption. The confidence in the political system decreases over time, however. But this seems to be due to a development of a more realistic – or less utopian – view of the quality of Swedish democracy.
