Jag är Distinguished Professor of Philosophy vid Australian National University. Jag har tidigare arbetat som professor i statskunskap på University of Essex. Mitt arbete är inom en rad ämnen inom politisk teori och politiska system med speciellt fokus på välfärdsstaten och på demokratiska teorier och praxis.

- Explaining Norms (OUP 2013), coauthored with G. Brennan, L. Eriksson, and N. Southwood.
