The following paper traces the emergence of a Swedish military-industrial complex through its heydays to its eventual decline, as to identify factors which distinguish the Swedish case. The paper argues that three factors have been particularly important to the emergence of its military-industrial complex: the Cold War, the corporative political culture, and the elevation of defence issues over the political agenda.
